As an Excel user, have you ever wondered why there are Page Up and Page Down keys on keyboard, but not Page Right and Page Left keys? I do.
You may probably know that you may navigate to the right of a “large” table by holding Ctrl key with Right Arrow. However, this will lead you to the right-most of your table. In some occasions, it just goes too far… and that’s the time you want a Page Right key.
However you won’t find that key on your keyboard. (If you do, please tell me where you get your keyboard.)
Nevertheless, if you really want to perform an action of Page Right or Page Left, here’s the trick:
- Turn Scroll Lock on.
- Ctrl+→ (hold Ctrl and Left arrow together) has the effect of Page Right
- Ctrl+← (hold Ctrl and Left arrow together) has the effect of Page Left
Disadvantage:
Most of the time, we don’t want to turn on Scroll Lock when we are working with Excel. So remember to turn it off right away.
This is not a perfect solution. But better-than-none, I believe. 🙂
Edit:
Alternative approach – a better one!
Alt+Page Down ==> Page Right
Alt+Page Up ==> Page Left
Thanks David N for telling me this more direct approach!
Thanks for this. The original suggestion worked for me. I had forgotten about the scroll lock. David’s update didn’t work. Possible a difference in the later versions of Excel
